The German midfielder refused to reveal any details on Mbappe's potential transfer to the Spanish capital. France's captain has informed Paris Saint-Germain of his wishes to leave this summer, with a number of outlets reporting that he plans on making a long-awaited Madrid move.

In a pre-match press conference, Kroos refused to get dragged into Mbappe transfer talk: "If even he doesn't know, how can I know? The important thing is to win things. It would be nice for Madrid, but I think we already have a good team."

Mbappe has been here before. The winger appeared set to sign for Los Blancos in 2022 but turned down their offer at the last minute in favour of a lucrative extension with the Parisians.

Kroos, for his part, might not be in Madrid by next summer. The midfielder is yet to pen a new deal for Carlo Ancelotti's side, and hasn't shown any great willing to extend his contract, which expires at the end of the 2023-24 season.
