Most owners are only required to cash cheques, with coaches and directors working amongst themselves when it comes to identifying and pursuing new recruits. The model at SToK Racecourse is, however, a little unique and Hollywood superstars are always “kept in the loop” when it comes to bringing fresh faces to North Wales.

Parkinson has told of how that system works: “We work very closely with the owners on recruitment. They’re involved in everything and want to be kept in the loop. When we’re looking at potential signings, we’re constantly explaining who we’re considering and why. When we’ve worked out which one we’re going to go for, I involve everyone in that decision and why we think that individual is suitable. Then Shaun Harvey establishes the finances with the agent and the player, we see what it’s going to cost and decide if that player is still the one we want.”

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Wrexham have found plenty of value in the transfer market, with the likes of Paul Mullin and Elliot Lee proving to be particularly shrewd pieces of business. Another opportunity to add to the squad will present itself in January, with more funding questions set to be asked of Reynolds and McElhenney.

The Red Dragons have fared admirably with those already at their disposal, as they sit third in the League Two table, with back-to-back promotions on the cards. Wrexham will be back in action on Tuesday when taking in a trip to Swindon.
